K.T.'s
Story
Mr. K.T. Lai is a distinguished human resources strategist, educator, and thought leader with over five decades of professional experience spanning corporate leadership, academic instruction, public policy advisory, and community service. A Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management (HKIHRM) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD), he is widely recognised for his enduring contributions to advancing human resource management (HRM) standards in Hong Kong.
K.T. began his post-retirement journey in early 2008 after a notable tenure at CLP Holdings Limited, the parent company of the CLP Group. As Group Human Resources Manager, he was responsible for executive remuneration and benefits policy, human resources information systems, and the implementation of corporate performance management frameworks.
K.T.’s expertise spans a wide array of HR disciplines, including reward strategy, performance management, employee engagement, executive development, and succession planning. From 2005 to 2008, he served as President of HKIHRM and chaired several key taskforces, including those on employee relations and MPF reform. Between 2006 and 2009, he led the Institute’s HR Professional Standards Committee, playing a critical role in shaping the HR Professional Model adopted across the sector.
In 2012, he served as Senior Programme Director (Training and Human Resources Management Subject Group) at the School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE), The University of Hong Kong. In this role, he developed the HR Management & Development programme that bridge theory with practice. Today, he lectures at HKU SPACE, HK Council of Social Service Institute remains a sought-after speaker at universities and professional events.
Beyond the corporate and academic spheres, Mr. Lai has been an active contributor to public service. Appointed by the HKSAR Government, he served on numerous advisory and policy committees, including:

In addition, he is a dedicated community leader. He currently serves on the Human Resources Committees of the Hong Kong Red Cross, the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention. He also acts as the member of the Management Committee of Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association Ltd, HR Committee of the Hang Seng University, and sits on the Incorporated Management Committee of The Church of Christ in China Tam Lee Lai Fun Memorial Secondary School.
In his capacity at PTM, Mr. Lai continues to serve as a strategic partner—advising on private client engagement, leadership strategy, and organisational development. His work consistently blends professional rigour with a strong people-first ethos, shaped by a lifelong dedication to human capacity building and social progress.
